Today we enjoyed a relative "rest day" in spectacular weather. The trail was nearly all down-hill and we have also started to head south.
We had breakfast late and left Dzonglha at 8:30 am for Dingboche. A 6-mile hike lead us over mossy, rolling hills with more views of Nepal's best: Ama Dablam, Zholotse, Tabuche to only name a few. On the way, we hit the major trail to Everest Base Camp which was very busy with trekkers from all over the world.
One of the tea houses served freshly baked apple pie which we devoured. As we were leaving the tea house, my walking pole was missing. One of the groups headed for Gorakshep took it by mistake so Pemba started running after them. They had at least 20 minutes head start, but he caught up to them, got the pole back and he even caught up with us before we reached Dingboche!
Tomorrow morning we will be heading up Chukuing at 5550 meters; we are currently at 4400. It will be fun. Our third 5000+ meter peak in 9 days. Stay tuned.
